Guest Access to UO Technology

Overview

Depending on your needs, there are various ways to facilitate guest access to technology resources at the University of Oregon.

Wi-Fi Access

UO Guest Wi-Fi

  • Anyone visiting UO is welcome to connect to the UO Guest network for Wi-Fi access. Please note restrictions at athletic venues.
  • Information and how to connect: Wireless Network Guest Access

eduroam

  • Available to visitors from other eduroam member institutions while at UO. Requires their home institution's credentials to login. See Connecting to the eduroam Network.

Collaboration Services

For these collaborations, no Duck ID account is required.

Dropbox

Microsoft Teams

OneDrive

UO Blogs

  • Access to UO Blogs by a guest must be requested by a sponsor. Instructions for requesting a guest login can be found at UO Blogs: Guest Policy.

Zoom

  • By default, participants don't have to be logged in to Zoom to join an existing meeting. All they need is the link or meeting ID (and passcode, if you've set one).
  • If you plan to invite guests to Zoom, please review best practices for Preventing Zoombombing.
  • Individuals expected to create new Zoom meetings in the UO's zoom tenant will need an unpaid appointment (see below).

Unpaid Appointments

For guests that need a Duck ID login, email, server access, Canvas access, fully-licensed versions of software, or access to student or financial data, an unpaid appointment will likely be required. Unpaid appointment holders are issued a UO ID number (95#) and claim a Duck ID account similar to paid employees, though the access available to their Duck ID accounts may vary as described below.

Associate Appointment

Associates are a type of unpaid appointment. These are generally people doing administrative work with the UO, but who are not paid employees. Please see more information about what an Associate is using the Courtesy, Campus Associate, and other Unpaid Appointments article from UO Human Resources. If you have questions about the Associate appointment, you can contact Human Resources Operations with specific questions.

Note: Beginning December 2022, agency based temporary employees who require Banner access are eligible for access by following the standard Associate process.  Please see the process section below.  Any specific questions can be submitted here: Campus Access & Support Request
