Duo Mobile registration guide for iOS


Using the Duo Mobile app is the preferred method of interacting with Duo Security for two-step login.

This article contains instructions on how to download, install, and register the Duo Mobile app on Apple iOS mobile devices (iPhones and/or iPads).


Install the Duo Mobile app

  1. Navigate to the App Store on your iOS device

  2. Search for Duo Mobile

  3. Press Get to download Duo Mobile app

Register Your Device

  1. Open your preferred web browser on your desktop or laptop computer
  2. Go to https://duckid.uoregon.edu
  3. Click on Manage Your Duck ID

  4. Enter your Duck ID and password
  5. Click Manage Two-Step Login Devices
  6. Click Start Setup
  7. Select Mobile Phone

  8. Select your phone type - choose iPhone
  9. Click Continue
  10. Type your phone number into the available field

  11. Verify your phone number is entered correctly and click Continue
  12. You will be prompted to install the Duo Mobile app on your iOS device - click I have Duo Mobile installed

  13. A QR code will be displayed on your screen

  14. Open the Duo Mobile app on your iOS device

  15. Press ADD ACCOUNT
  16. You will be prompted to allow Duo Mobile to use your camera. Press OK.

  17. Aim the camera on your mobile device at the QR Code on your computer screen, and it will automatically scan the QR Code.

  18. On your computer, you should see a message confirming that your device has been registered.

Using Your iOS Device for Two-Step Login

NOTE: After registration, two-step prompts will start for your logins within the next day

When you log in to protected UO services, you will be prompted to select an authentication method:

  • Send Me a Push will send a notification to your iOS device through Duo Mobile app. This is the easiest method for authentication. Just tap Approve to login.
  • Call Me will call the mobile number you have registered for the device. You will be prompted to approve the request by pressing 1 or to report fraud by pressing 9.
  • Enter a Passcode requires that you open the Duo Mobile app and press on your University of Oregon account to reveal the six-digit passcode.
