Introduction
Using the Duo Mobile app is the preferred method of interacting with Duo Security for two-step login at the University of Oregon.
This article contains instructions on how to download, install, and register the Duo Mobile app on Apple iOS mobile devices (iPhones and/or iPads).
Instructions
Install the Duo Mobile app
- Navigate to the App Store on your iOS device
- Search for Duo Mobile

- Press Get to download Duo Mobile app
Register Your Device
- Open your preferred web browser on your desktop or laptop computer
- Visit a Duo protected service (i.e., UO Service Portal, Canvas, UOmail, etc.)
- Log in with your Duck ID and password
- If you are registering a second device, you will need to disable any push notifications you receive.
- Select Add a new device

- Click Start Setup
- Select Mobile phone

- Select your phone type - choose iPhone

- Click Continue
- Type your phone number into the available field

- Verify your phone number is entered correctly and click Continue
- You will be prompted to install the Duo Mobile app on your iOS device - click I have Duo Mobile installed

- A QR code will be displayed on your screen

- Open the Duo Mobile app on your iOS device

- Press ADD ACCOUNT
- You will be prompted to allow Duo Mobile to use your camera. Press OK.

- Aim the camera on your mobile device at the QR Code on your computer screen, and it will automatically scan the QR Code.

- On your computer, you should see a message confirming that your device has been registered

Using Your iOS Device for Two-Step Login
When you log in to protected UO services, you will be prompted to select an authentication method:

- Send Me a Push will send a notification to your iOS device through Duo Mobile app. This is the easiest method for authentication. Just tap Approve to login.
- Call Me will call the mobile number you have registered for the device. You will be prompted to approve the request by pressing 1 or to report fraud by pressing 9.
- Enter a Passcode requires that you open the Duo Mobile app and press on your UO account to reveal the six-digit passcode.
