This article provides generic information on email client settings.

Below are instructions for both Webmail/IMAP and Exchange/UOmail.

If you're not sure which email service you're using, please see our article about how to tell if you're using Webmail/IMAP or Exchange/UOmail.

Please note that UO faculty and staff are transitioning from Webmail/IMAP to Exchange/UOmail throughout 2019.

Security (SSL/TLS) Required

The University of Oregon requires secure connections (using SSL or TLS) to retrieve mail from UOregon servers.

For more information, see Configuring Your E-mail Program.

Traveling?

You can use the university's outgoing mail (SMTP) server from anywhere on the internet. Set your SMTP server to "smtp.uoregon.edu", enable SSL, and set the port to 587. (If 587 is not working, please try port 465). Your username and password are the same as your Duck ID and password.

Some email programs require a slightly different configuration. For directions on how to set up a specific program, see Configuring Your E-mail Program.
