Services After You Graduate

Overview

After graduation, students can still access campus technology services for a limited time. Full time frames for various services can be found on the Identity Management - Affiliation Resource Access Rules article.

Lifetime access

A lifetime email forward is available to those that graduated Fall 2017 or later. Please see our Lifetime email forward for graduating students FAQ for more information.

Please Note: Although the forward will last a lifetime, your email will not! If you wish to keep any of your email, you must export it before your email access is disabled. Learn more about Exporting your Email.

For one calendar year after your last term of eligible enrollment, you have access to:

Email and Canvas

It is recommended that you set up an alternate email account and have your UO account forward incoming mail to it after you graduate. For instructions on how to forward you UO email account, see Forwarding Your E-mail.

UO Blogs

You can continue to update your website or blog for one calendar year after graduation. It is recommended that you export your website or blog to another WordPress service, if you wish to keep your site longer than a year after graduation. See UO Blogs: How To Import Content From Another Blog for instructions on moving your site from UO Blogs to another WordPress service.

Microsoft 365

You still have full access to Microsoft 365 products up to one calendar year after graduation. It is recommended to export any files to a personal Microsoft 365 account or other service if you wish to retain them after that date. See Export OneDrive For Business Contents to Computer for instructions.

For one term after your last term of eligible enrollment, you have access to:

UO Wireless Network

You can log onto the UO Secure network.

Pages web hosting (and Shell access)

You have access to your pages.uoregon.edu/<Duck ID> webspace. It is recommended that you export all personally-owned content from web space before your access expires.

Career Center, Alumni Association, and Libraries

Career Center

The Career Center offers career coaching, career fairs, and more for up to one year after graduation. For more information, please visit the Career Center Website.

Alumni Association

The University of Oregon Alumni Association keeps Ducks around the world connected to their alma mater and to each other, through domestic and international chapters and groups, reunions, tailgates, career networking, travel opportunities, watch parties, service opportunities, and more. Visit the Alumni Association for more information.

UO Libraries

You can use Library services and computers for one term after graduation. When your access is deactivated, you can continue using the Internet-only workstations. For details, see Library Computers. To check out books after you've graduated, sign up for the Oregon Card Program or membership with the Alumni Association.

Discounts and other web-based services

Educational Discounts

Educational discounts for hardware and software are offered to faculty, staff, and students with current Duck IDs. If you wish to take advantage of any educational discounts, you will need to do so before graduation. After graduation, you cannot buy hardware and software with this discount.

Other web-based services

There are many web-based services offered by the University of Oregon that are available only to faculty, staff, and students with current Duck IDs, such as access to databases, journals, Qualtrics, etc. As a graduate of the University of Oregon, you may wish to review and export all personally-owned content you wish to retain before leaving the university.

Antivirus

We recommend installing an antivirus program on your computer to help keep it safe from malware and spyware.

  • For Windows PCs, AVG is a free antivirus program that can be downloaded.
  • For Macintosh, Sophos has a free antivirus trial program that can be downloaded.

Other antivirus software is available for purchase at retail locations.

DuckWeb

After graduation, DuckWeb can be accessed indefinitely whenever you need student records, such as transcripts or employee information.
