Change or Reset Your Duck ID Password

How can I change or reset my Duck ID password?

Your Duck ID password expires every 180 days. If you have forgotten your password or are unable to log in to your email, Canvas, or other services that use your Duck ID, there are several options for resetting your Duck ID password.

First Option: Known Password

Use this option if your Duck ID password has expired but you still know the password.

  • In a web browser, go to
  • Click on Manage Your Duck ID
  • Log in with your Duck ID (the first part of your UO email address) and your password
  • Click Change My Password and the Submit button
  • Pick a new password

Second Option: Password Not Working

Use this option if the first option does not work.

There are three options for recovering your password: security questions, temporary passcode via SMS text message, or temporary passcode via an alternate email. Note: Security question answers are not case sensitive.

To use the SMS text or alternate email recovery, you must have set those up prior to forgetting your password.

See the How to add alternate password recovery information article for more information.

Third Option: In-Person Password Reset

Note: Use this option only if the first two options do not work.

Please bring a photo ID. A photo ID can be your UO ID card, driver’s license, passport, or other government-issued ID.
