Configuring UO Mail on Android

How do I set up my University of Oregon email on my Android device?

Solution

Webmail IMAP

  1. Open the Settings App for your Android Device.
  2. Scroll down and tap "Accounts" on the left hand side, then tap "Add Account".
  3. Click "Personal (IMAP)". A new window will appear.
  4. Enter your full email address and tap "Next".
  5. Type in your password, which is your Duck ID password and tap "Next".
  6. Under "Incoming Server Settings", fill out the following information, then tap "Next":
    •      "Username" will be your Duck ID (your e-mail address without the @uoregon.edu).
    •      "Password" will be your Duck ID password
    •      "IMAP" server needs to be imap.uoregon.edu
    •      "Port" needs to be set to 993
    •      "Security type" needs to be set to SSL
  7. Under "Outgoing Server Settings", fill out the following information, then tap "Next":
    •     "STMP" server needs to be smtp.uoregon.edu
    •      "Port" needs to be set to 465
    •      "Security" type needs to be set to SSL
    •      "Username" will be your UO DuckID (your e-mail address without the @uoregon.edu).
    •      "Password" will be your DuckID password.
  8. Choose how frequent your mail syncs, whether you want notifications, whether you only want new emails to sync or all emails to sync, and if you want attachments to automatically download when connected to wifi. Then click "Next".
  9. Make sure your name is correct and click "Next".
  10. Push the home button and go to the Gmail app.
  11. Send a test email to yourself. If you are able to send and receive the email then everything was set up correctly.

Your e-mail will load in the next few minutes.

 

 

Exchange

  1. Go to the "Email" app.
  2. Tap the three bars icon in the upper left corner.
  3. Tap on the gear icon that appears in the navigation bar.
  4. Find and tap "Add account"
  5. Tap "Corporate" as the account type.
  6. Enter your credentials.
    1. Full email
    2. Password, which is your DuckID password.
  7. Tap "Sign in."
  8. That's it! Send a test email to yourself to verify it is working.

If automatic setup does not work, type in your credentials and then tap "Manual Set Up":

  1. Enter information into the fields as follows, then tap "Next":
    1. Email address will be your full email address.
    2. Domain\username: "ad\duckid" where duckid is your Duck ID (your e-mail address without the @uoregon.edu).
    3. "Password" will be your DuckID password.
    4. Exchange "server" needs to be sync.uoregon.edu
    5. Make sure "Use secure connection (SSL)"
  2. It will ask about "Remote security administration." Tap "OK."
  3. Choose what will sync, how long it will sync and how much many message you want to see, then tap "Next."
  4. It will ask you to activate permissions. Tap "Activate."
  5. Choose an account name. This is only for you so you can name it whatever you like. By default it will be your email address, then tap "Done."
  6. That's it! Send a test email to yourself to verify it is working.
