Setting Up UOmail: Outlook for Android

Overview

Learn how to configure UOmail to the Outlook app for Android devices.

Procedure

Using the Outlook App wizard

  1. Download and install the Outlook app from the Google Play Store.
  2. Open the Outlook app.
  3. Tap Get Started and complete the steps below.
  4. Select the Menu button, which is the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
  5. Go to Settings indicated by a gear icon
  6. Select Add Account and enter your full UO email address.
    1. Outlook may detect and pre-select your email account. Tap Continue to add that account, or tap Skip this account to enter the email address of a different account, and then enter your password and follow the prompts.
    2. You will need to verify your account access using Duo. Follow the instructions to verify the account.
  7. A window will pop up informing you that your account was added successfully.

Manually entering UOmail settings

If your account is not configuring for whatever reason, follow the general steps to add an account manually:

  1. Go to Settings 
  2. Select Add Account
  3. Select Add Email Account
  4. Enter your full UO email address then select Continue.
  5. Select Setup account manually if available.
    1. Then on the email provider page choose Exchange and toggle Advanced Settings on.
  6. Enter your server setting details, if available, and then tap the checkmark icon.

Incoming Server Settings

  • Domain\Username: Enter your full email address, such as yourduckid@uoregon.edu
  • Password: Use your Duck ID password.
  • Server: exchange.uoregon.edu
  • Port: Use 443 or 993.
  • Security type: Select SSL/TLS or make sure the Use secure connection (SSL) checkbox is checked, then tap Next.

Outgoing SMTP Server Settings

  • SMTP Server: smtp.uoregon.edu
  • Security Type: Choose TLS.
  • Port Number: Enter 587. Tap Next.

You may be prompted to enter your email account password again or agree to/activate any necessary permissions.

Updating Your Password

Note: Since your email password and Duck ID password are the same, if you need to change your password please visit the Duck ID Account Management portal and select the Manage Your Duck ID link.

Follow these steps to update the password stored in your Outlook app:

  1. Open the Outlook application.
  2. A window will pop up prompting you to log in with the new password.
    1. If a window does not pop up, close the application and reopen it.
