Installing the Latest Version of the DuckDocs (OnBase) Unity Client for Windows

This article is designed to act as a guide for the installation of the latest version of the DuckDocs (OnBase) Unity Client. The client is only available for use on Windows. Depending on your level of access, you may need to reach out to IT support to assist you with this installation.

  1. Navigate to the UO Software Center in your favorite browser. (You may need to log in with your Duck ID by clicking Duck ID Login on the left).
  2. Scroll down and click OnBase Unity Client.
  3. Download the client installer by clicking OnBase Unity Client – Installer.
  4. Extract all files to your local computer (right-click on the downloaded file——and choose Extract All…).
  5. Navigate to the LTReleaseUnityClient folder and double-click the install folder then the Unity Client folder.
    1. Important Note: Be sure to follow this step exactly. If you navigate to another folder (like ClickOnce), these installation instructions will not work for you and the wrong application will be installed.
  6. If a previous version of the Unity client is open, be sure to close it before continuing.
    1. You can verify this by checking the system tray—click the ^ on the Windows toolbar near the clock—for the circular OnBase icon. Right-click the icon and choose Exit OnBase to close the app.
      Select Exit OnBase
  7. Double-click setup.exe to begin the installation. If you have a previous version of the client installed, you will be prompted with the following. Click Yes to continue with the installation.
Click Yes on the Client Setup dialog
  8. After a few moments, a welcome screen should appear. Click Next.
    1. Note: You may be prompted to install prerequisites. To proceed click Install.
  9. On the Destination Folder screen, accept the default Installation Directory and click Next.
  10. On the Custom Setup screen, you may choose to install the Virtual Print Driver Listener (recommended).
    1. You may do so by clicking on the drop-down on the left and choosing Will be installed on local hard drive.
    2. Otherwise, accept the default setup options and click Next.
Select the Virtual Print Driver Listener from the setup dialog
  11. On the Service Location screen, update the fields to the following values and click Next.
    Field Name Value
    Display Name OnBase Prod
    Service Path
    Data Source ECM Prod
  12. On the Additional Settings screen, accept the Default Mail Client option of Microsoft Outlook by clicking Next.
  13. If presented with additional Service Mode Options, accept the default options and click Next.
  14. On the Unity Configuration File Location screen, uncheck Deploy pre-configured Unity configuration file from specific location if checked.
  15. On the Ready to install Hyland Unity Client screen, click Install.
  16. Once the installation completes, click Finish.

Additional configuration is required to log in to the Unity Client. Please complete the following before launching the application.

  • Navigate to the UO Software Center in your favorite browser. (You may need to log in with your Duck ID by clicking Duck ID Login on the left).
  • Scroll down and click OnBase Unity Client.
  • Download the configuration file by right-clicking on OnBase Unity Client – Prod Config File and choosing Save Link as....When saving the file, be sure to change the filename to obunity.exe.config if the system attempts to save it as obunity.exe.xml.
  • Navigate to the directory where you installed the Unity Client (default is c:\Program Files (x86)\Hyland\Unity Client).
  • Copy/Paste the obunity.exe.config file to that location and specify that you would overwrite the existing file if prompted.

When you launch the client, you should be prompted to log in with your Duck ID and password. (Please note that those not on a campus network will need to use VPN in order to access the application.)
