Overview
Steps for gaining access to the IDR data warehouse, additional data security (if needed), and the Cognos Analytics service.
Information
How do I get access to the IDR data warehouse and Cognos?
Before you begin, you may wish to familiarize yourself with the kind of reports that can be run in the IDR Cognos service.
Most users will only need to obtain a Cognos Analytics Report User account along with Core Data security.
Step 1 - Opening your Core Data account
Note: This step must be completed. You cannot be granted the optional data access listed under Step 2 if you miss this step.
To request a new account or change your IDR license type:
- Visit the Business Application Access Request
- Click Request Access
- Complete the form
- Click Submit at the bottom
Core Data is automatically granted to new accounts. You'll receive a welcome email when your account is ready for use.
Step 2 - Adding optional data to your account

How to Request |
Sensitive Student Data |
Complete the UO IDR Access Form - Student Data and send to the Registrar's Office for approval. Handwritten signatures are required; electronic signatures such as “click to sign” solutions are not accepted. If an individual is unable to hand-sign the form, they may email it from their UO email account in lieu of a signature.
Prerequisites:
- Complete and pass the online FERPA training course.
- If you do not already have an active IDR/Cognos account with Core Data access, the Core Data form linked above must be submitted at the same time.

Optional Private and Sensitive
Finance & HR Data
|
Complete the UO IDR Access Form - Finance and HR Data and route to the appropriate data steward(s) for approval (stewards are listed below).
Prerequisite: If you do not already have an active IDR/Cognos account with Core Data access, the Core Data form linked above must be submitted at the same time.

Step 3 - Adding optional department folders to your account
Departments or units may maintain their own IDR Cognos Departmental Folders in which to keep reports they have developed for internal use. In addition, within the departmental folder, they may want to create additional folders to organize and manage access to the reports.
For information on what departmental folders exist and how to request access, see the Departmental Folders article.
