Overview
Steps for gaining access to the IDR data warehouse, additional data security (if needed), and the Cognos Analytics service.
How to Request Access
Before you begin, you may wish to familiarize yourself with the kind of reports that can be run in the IDR Cognos service.
Most users will only need to obtain a Cognos Analytics Report User account along with Core Data security.
Step 1 - Opening your IDR Cognos account
Have your supervisor or person with authority to approve access go to IDR/Cognos Access Request and fill out the form on your behalf. Most users only need Core Data security and no additional security groups will be needed. If additional security is selected, the relevant Data Steward will be sent a ticket to approve or deny access.
Step 2 - Adding optional department folders to your account
Departments or units may maintain their own IDR Cognos Departmental Folders in which to keep reports they have developed for internal use. In addition, within the departmental folder, they may want to create additional folders to organize and manage access to the reports.
For information on what departmental folders exist and how to request access, see the Departmental Folders article.
How to Check the Status of your Request
To check the status of the access request, whoever submitted the request can view their tickets in the Service Portal. There will be a main ticket for the Core access request, and additional tickets for each data area requested. View each ticket as needed.
