Configuring UO Secure (iOS)

Question

How do connect to UO Secure on my iOS Devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, Apple Watch, and iPad)?

Solution

Step 1: The configuration process

Note: You will need to use your cellular service or wireless internet connection (home Wi-Fi, UO Guest, etc.) to complete the initial setup.
Please Note: Follow this process to configure your iOS device to UO Secure for the first time. It only needs to be done once per device.
Tip: This will also configure access to the eduroam network.
  1. Open Safari.
    1. Safari is required for this. The full steps below will not work with any other browser properly.
  2. Go to the UO Secure setup page. The page will detect that you're using an iOS device.
    1. If you are not on campus, you may need to select Sign In and authenticate with your full UO email address and password first.
  3. Select JoinNow.
  4. You will be directed to another screen. The following message will appear: "cloud.securew2.com" is trying to download a configuration profile. Do you want to allow this? Select Allow to proceed.
  5. If you have multiple iOS compatible devices (iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad), select iPhone or iPad.
  6. A message will appear stating: Profile Downloaded - Review the profile in the Settings app if you want to install it.
  7. Select Close.
  8. Navigate back to your home screen, then open the Settings app icon.
  9. Select Profile Downloaded from the main screen
  10. An Install Profile screen will appear. Select Install.
  11. Enter your device's passcode to proceed.
  12. A Warning screen will appear mentioning that these are Unmanaged Root Certificates. Select Install to proceed.
  13. The message: Install Profile - Installing this profile will change settings on your iPhone. Select Install to proceed.
  14. Once the profile is installed, select the checkmark button to complete the process.

Step 2: Connecting to UO Secure

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Wi-Fi.
  3. Under Choose a Network..., select UO Secure from the list of available networks.
  4. Now you're connected to UO Secure!
Getting an error about "network not in range" when you finish this process?
  • Off campus: This is normal, and your device should connect automatically when you come to campus. (The error message may also say your password may be incorrect—which may be true if you get to campus and your device doesn't connect automatically; see below.)
  • On campusYour password is likely incorrect. You may need to start the process over again, or visit the Technology Service Desk for help.
