Overview
All UOmail users should have a folder labeled Junk Email in their mailbox. Messages flagged as spam will be automatically routed to the Junk Email folder.
Messages in the Junk Email folder will be permanently deleted after 30 days.

How do I flag a message as Not Junk?
Please Note (February 26, 2024): We recommend this action to help address our current problem of legitimate UO emails being marked as junk.
Select one of the three tabs below: Outlook for Windows, Outlook for macOS, or Outlook on the web. This step isn't possible in the Outlook Mobile app.
Follow the steps below:
- Go to the Junk Email folder
- Select the email message(s) you wish to mark as Not Junk.
- Go to the Home menu, find the Move & Delete settings, and select the Junk menu option.
- Depending upon the size of your Outlook window, you may need to select a three-dot icon to find the Move & Delete settings.
- Select the Not Junk menu option that appears.
The email message(s) will then be transferred to your Inbox.
Follow the steps below:
- Go to the Junk Email folder
- Select the email message(s) you wish to mark as Not Junk
- Go to the Messages menu: select the Report option, then Not junk.

Can I prevent a sender or domain from being marked as Junk Email?
Yes. You can add specific email addresses and domains to your Safe Senders list.

Can I block a sender?
Yes. You can block messages from a particular sender by adding their email addresses or domain names to the Blocked Senders List.

I don't see my Junk Email Folder in Mac Mail
Some versions of the Mac Mail application hide the Junk Email folder by default. To display the folder, do the following:
- Open Mail on your Mac
- Click Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail
- Click the Junk Mail Behaviors tab
- Click Enable junk mail filtering
I don't see a message in my Inbox or my Junk Email folder
Inbound email is routed through the university's Proofpoint mail filtering system before it arrives in the UOmail system. The Proofpoint system quarantines some spam messages, resulting in their not being delivered.
