Overview

Below are the affiliation types identified at the University of Oregon. Eligibility for a Duck ID and access to resources such as email are based on a person's affiliation with the University.

Affiliation Type Description Determination
Administrative Faculty (Officers of Administration) Officers of Administration

One of the following:

  • A current Employee record with employee group code of 'ADMN'.
  • A current job record with position code of 'UE*', 'UF*', 'UG*', 'UH*' or 'A*'.
Alumni Graduates of the University of Oregon starting in Fall 2017

All of the following:

  • Degree status of awarded "AW"
  • Degree type of 24-Baccalaureate Degree, 31-First-Professional Degree (Law Degree), 41-Graduate Certificate, 42-Masters Degree, or 44-Doctoral Degree
  • Degree was awarded in 201701 (Fall 2017) or later

 

Associate These are people who are not employed by the University but belong to an affiliate organization or have a business relationship with a University Department. Academic Affairs grants associate status to individuals associated with a UO department and the Director of Human Resources grants associate status to organizations. These affiliations should be time limited, and renewed as needed. Examples include: University Bookstore, UO Foundation, Chancellors Office, and Religious Directors Association.

One of the following:

  • A current Employee record with employee group code of 'ASSC'.
  • Current job record with position code 'BUOXAS' and position class 'XX901'
Courtesy Courtesy appointments are granted to faculty, researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and others who are spending time on the UO campus, but who are not otherwise affiliated with the University. The Vice President for Academic Affairs approves these appointments. These affiliations should be time limited, and renewed as needed.

One of the following:

  • A current Employee record with employee group code of 'CRTY'.
  • Current job record with position code 'BUOXCC' and position class 'XX901'
Emeritus Emeritus are retired faculty who have been granted emeritus status by the Provost's Office.

One of the following:

  • A current Employee record with employee group code of 'EMER'.
  • Current job record with position class 'XX902'
Faculty (Tenure and Tenure-Track Faculty) Faculty includes all unclassified instructional and research appointments that are of an enduring nature. Their affiliation extends through leaves and summer (for 9 month appointments).

One of the following:

  • A current Employee record with employee group code of 'TTF'.
  • A current job record with position class of '*TTF' or '*ACT'.
Fixed Term Enduring Faculty (Career NonTenure Track Faculty) Faculty who work on a fixed term, but who have an enduring relationship with the University. Career Instructors are included in this affiliation.

One of the following:

  • A current Employee record with employee group code of 'CARR'.
  • A current job record with position class of '*CAR'.
Fixed Short Term Faculty (Pro Tempore, Visiting, Postdoctoral Scholar, and Post Retirement Appointments) Faculty whose affiliation is of a fixed duration. These would include visiting instructional, visiting research, and some adjunct appointments.

One of the following:

  • A current Employee record with employee group code of 'ONTF'.
  • A current job record with position class of '*PDC', '*PTM', or '*VST'.
GTF (Graduate Employee) Graduate Teaching Fellows

One of the following:

  • A current Employee record with employee group code of 'GTF'.
  • A current job record with position class of 'XB*'.
Retired Retired Officers of Administration, Instructional Faculty, Research Faculty, and Staff.

One of the following:

  • Retirement code is 08, OR, 59, or 69
  • Terminated employee history record with reason 'R5', 'R6' or 'RP'
  • An Employee record with employee group code of 'RTRD'.
Staff Classified Staff (SEIU and GCIU)

One of the following:

  • A current Employee record with employee group code of 'CLAS'.
  • A current job record with position class of 'B*', 'C*', 'D*', 'E*', 'G*' or 'J*'.
Student Includes all student types - admitted and non-admit undergraduates, graduates, and law and American English Institute students. At this time, there does not seem to be a need for more than one student affiliation type. Student level, major, and term registration status attributes are also provided in the directory and can be used to categorize students when necessary. An active general student record in the previous, current, or next term.
Student Employee Student Employees

One of the following:

  • A current Employee record with employee group code of 'SEMP'.
  • A current job record with position class of 'XA*'.
Temporary Employee Persons with a temporary non-regular appointment.

One of the following:

  • An Employee record with employee group code of 'TEMP'.
  • A current job record with position class of 'TS*'.
