Identity Management - Affiliation Types

Overview

Below are the affiliation types identified at the University of Oregon. Eligibility for a Duck ID and access to resources, such as email, are based on a person's affiliation with the University. 

Affiliations

Students

Affiliation Description
Students All students with an active student record

Administrative Employees

Affiliation Description
Administrative Faculty Officers of Administration, non-classified employees
Staff Classified employees

Administrative Support Employees

Affiliation Description
Temporary Employees Limited duration employees hired directly through UO.  This does not include agency temps that are employed by an external agency.  See Hiring Temporary Employees
Student Employees Students (from both UO and other colleges) approved for student employment.  See Hiring Students

Academic Support

Affiliation Description
GE Graduate employees. Graduate level students hired for GE appointments.  See Graduate Employment
Courtesy Unpaid appointment. These are academic in nature, provide additional access, and require additional approvals.  See Courtesy, Campus Associate, and other Unpaid Appointments
Emerit Retired faculty, that meet certain criteria.  See Emerit Status

Faculty

Affiliation Description
Faculty Tenured and Tenure Track Faculty. All unclassified instructional and research appointments that are of an enduring nature.
Fixed Term Enduring Faculty Career Non-Tenure Track Faculty. Faculty who work on a fixed term, but who have an enduring relationship with the University.
Fixed Short Term Faculty Pro Tempore, Visiting, Postdoctoral Scholar, and Post Retirement Appointments. Faculty whose affiliation is of a fixed duration. Also, some adjunct appointments.

Other

Affiliation Description
Alumni Graduates of the University of Oregon starting in Fall 2017
Campus Associate Unpaid appointments. These are generally people doing administrative work, or with an association with the UO, but who are not paid employees.  See Courtesy, Campus Associate, and other Unpaid Appointments
Retired Employees who have formally retired from the UO
Trustees Members of the Board of Trustees
