Uploading files to OneDrive

Overview

This article is intended to guide you through the process of uploading files to OneDrive.

From Microsoft 365 Online

Sign-in to your account at office.uoregon.edu using your Duck ID username.

  • Once authenticated, you can select the OneDrive icon from the list of applications on your Office home screen or from the App Switcher (3x3 grid icon), select OneDrive.
  • Once you're in OneDrive, you can:
    • Drag and drop the file from your computer's file system on to the OneDrive window, or
    • You can select the Add New button, choose File upload, then select from your computer's file system.

From a OneDrive desktop folder

Please Note: You will need to download the OneDrive application to sync with your OneDrive online folders. If you are on a managed computer, please consult with your IT support team for additional guidance with the installation.

From the OneDrive application, select the Open Folder option. The OneDrive folder will open on your computer. If you select View Online, you can follow the steps in the above section.

Once the folder window is open, you can drag-and-drop any files from other locations on your computer into it. When you move a file into OneDrive, it will remove it from your computer much like if you were moving a file between folders on your computer; it leaves one and goes into another.

Once all of your files have been moved to the folder, you will be able to view them online through any device connected to your Microsoft 365 account.

From the OneDrive mobile application

Please Note: You will need to download the OneDrive application from your mobile device's app store and sign in using your Duck ID username. See the Getting Started with OneDrive article for more information.

From the OneDrive mobile application, you can upload files from your mobile device in two different ways: through a scan via image capture and by uploading a file.

Scan via image capture

  1. You can either select the icon on the upper-right corner and choose Scan or by selecting the icon to begin. This will pull up the device's camera viewfinder.
  2. Align the document you wish to scan and press the button once the borders are aligned with the perimeter of the document.
  3. If the border is not aligned correctly, you can adjust the corners by dragging them into position. Once you are satisfied with the borders, select Confirm.
  4. You may scan more documents if you wish, then press Done to save it (or them) into a file.
  5. You can rename the file and select where you would like to save it.
  6. Once satisfied, click the icon to upload the file.

Uploading a file

  1. You can either select the icon on the upper-right corner and choose Upload. This will allow you to choose the file from your mobile device's photos and videos section or you can browse through its file system.
  2. Select the file(s) you wish to upload, then select Done to complete the process.

Take a photo or video

  1. You can either select the icon on the upper-right corner and choose Take a Photo or Video. This will pull up the device's camera viewfinder.
  2. Once a photo or video is taken, it will upload it to OneDrive automatically. You will have to rename the file after it has been uploaded.
