Activating Office Online and OneDrive via Office 365

Question

How do I activate Office Online and OneDrive? 

Through Office 365, Microsoft offers online versions of its Office suite—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Known collectively as Office Online, these apps run in your web browser.

But before you can use the Office Online apps, you must claim your OneDrive space.

Solution

  1. Go to Office 365.
  2. Log in with your full UO email address (@uoregon.edu) and the corresponding password.
  3. Select the OneDrive icon.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Select Your OneDrive is ready.

Your OneDrive account has now been activated. A list of your documents will display. To use Word Online, Excel Online, PowerPoint Online, or OneNote Online, select the App Launcher on the upper-left, then select the app of your choice.

If you attempt to create a document in Word Online, Excel Online, PowerPoint Online, or OneNote online without first activating OneDrive, you may see one of the following two error messages:
