Information
Membership List
In the case of very long lists, the search box at the top of the page can be leveraged to find a particular user.
For each user, there are a number of checkboxes that can be changed. The details and meaning behind each checkbox are explained further below.
The (mod) option determines whether or not each user has moderator rights. This means that they are able to moderate content before it is sent to the subscribers. There is an option at the bottom of the page that allows the administrator to check the (mod) box for every user in the list.
- unsub
- Mailman will remove a user from the list.
- If you uncheck this box and then submit the changes on this page, the user will be removed from the list.
- hide
- Mailman will ensure the person will not appear to others as a member of the list.
- This setting does not affect the ability of the list manager to see the subscriber on the list management page.
- nomail
- Mailman will disable mail delivery.
- Bounce feature may also set a user to nomail status if mail to their address experiences delivery problems. See the section on bounce handling for more information.
- ack
- Mailman will send a short acknowledgement when they post a message to the list.
- Members may find this useful for moderated lists, so that they know that their posting was delivered to the moderator successfully.
- notmetoo
- Mailman will not include members in the delivery of their own postings to the list.
- nodupes
- Mailman will try to make sure that subscribers only receive one copy of a given message.
- digest
- Mailman will bundle list traffic as a single large message, as opposed to receiving individual messages.
- plain
- Only takes effect when digest is enabled.
- Indicates whether the digest will be delivered as plain text or in MIME format.
- Modern, GUI-based mail clients can handle MIME traffic with no problems.
- Character-based mail clients should opt for plain-text digests.

Mass Subscription
The Mass Subscription page allows administrators to add a number of addresses to the list, as well as to determine how these users are presented with the option.
- The first option allows the administrator to choose whether to send an invite the user(s) to subscribe to the list, or to send a notification that the user(s) have been subscribed.
- The second option determines whether or not Mailman will send a welcome message to a user once they have subscribed.
- The third option determines whether or not the list owner is notified via email for every new subscription to the list.
The first box provided is the space in which the administrator can add new addresses to the list. This can be done in two ways:
- The administrator can manually type in each address to be added in the box provided.
- The administrator can designate a text file to upload that contains all of the addresses. Mailman will then read the file and add the addresses on its own.
The last box is a space for the administrator to add a personal message to the top of an invitation or subscription notification.
Mass Removal
The Mass Removal page allows the administrator to remove many addresses from the list at once.
- The first option allows the administrator to set Mailman to notify each user if this page is used to remove them from the list.
- The second option allows the administrator to set Mailman to notify the list owner as well if this page is used to remove subscribers.
The box provided is the space in which the administrator can remove addresses from the list. This can be done in two ways:
- The administrator can manually type in each address to be removed from the box provided.
- The administrator can designate a text file to upload that contains all of the addresses. Mailman will then read the file and remove the addresses on its own.
