Issue
Monitors connected to a Dell dock suddenly stop working after rebooting Dell laptop or doing everyday tasks. Functionality may be intermittent.
Environment
UO-managed Dell laptop connected to two monitors via Dell dock
Description
My monitor is not connecting. Everything is plugged in, but I get a "no DP signal" message after turning it off/on.
Resolution
One solution to this problem is updating the firmware of the Dell dock.
- Go to the Dell Support website.
- Enter your dock's seven-digit alphanumeric service tag into the product identifier field and click Search. This tag is often on the bottom in small font next to ST: and a QR code.
- On the left side of the screen, select Drivers and Downloads..
- Download the listed firmware update utility. A common utility would be Dell Dock WD19/WD22TB4 Firmware Update Utility.
- Double-click the downloaded file and follow the prompts to install the firmware update. This will restart the dock and may cause screen flickering during the installation. Don't disconnect the dock from your laptop during the update.
