Moving from Webmail to UOmail

Overview

Learn more about the transition from Webmail to UOmail. This guide applies to anyone whose UO email account was switched from Webmail to UOmail in August, September, or October 2024. Access to Webmail ends November 13, 2024.

Action required by November 13

Your old emails should have been automatically moved to the new system. If there’s anything left in Webmail — such as contacts or stuck messages — you must take action by November 13 to save it. After that, you will lose access to Webmail.

  • Saving your Webmail contacts. You must take action to save any contacts from Webmail. Contacts from the Webmail Contacts tab have NOT been moved to UOmail.

  • Rescuing stuck messages from Webmail. In rare cases, some emails haven’t been successfully moved from Webmail to UOmail. You must take action to save any messages that remain in Webmail.

Common issues

  • Start using UOmail. Please see Getting Started with UOmail for information on how to log in online or set up your email application.

  • Outlook says: “We’re having trouble locating your account.” You may get a dialog box after your switch to UOmail that asks which type of account to use. Please choose Work or school account to finish setup and access your email.

  • Finding your sent messages. All your new sent messages in UOmail will be stored in the folder Sent Items. Your old sent emails from Webmail might be in that same folder, or they might be in a different folder named Sent, Sent Messages, Sent-mail, or a second Sent Items folder. UO IT staff can help you combine folders, if you’d like.

  • Recreating your Webmail rules in UOmail. If you used custom mailbox rules to sort email in Webmail, you can recreate those rules in UOmail. People often use such rules to automatically move emails from a specific sender to a corresponding folder. Exception: Most rules for forwarding have already been recreated in UOmail.
