Overview
This article describes the data security groups available in Cognos and the types of data they contain, or what job functions might need to request their access. All data security groups beyond Core Data require the approval of the responsible Data Steward before access can be given.
For instructions on requesting access to security groups beyond Core Data, see How do I get access to the IDR data warehouse and Cognos?.
Core Data
The Core Data group is the default security group for all Cognos users, which contains University of Oregon data that has been deemed available to all employees without additional approvals. The data in this group spans the Finance, HR and Student domains and includes most financial transactions, non-sensitive personnel data, and class schedule and course definition data. Other examples of this data include departmental budgets, grants, payroll, employee positions, course catalog, and faculty assignments.
Core Data also includes all of the list of value tables that provides codes and descriptions to assist with building report prompt pages.
Finance and Human Resources (HR)
The results you see on Cognos reports within the Finance and HR modules will be filtered by the contact information for which you are approved. For example, if a report contains a Vendor Mailing address (MA) and you are not approved for Vendor Mailing addresses, that information will be blank on your report.
If you require any of the contact information listed below, please apply for that access.
