How to Add a Summary Task to an Interactive Video in ANVILL in Canvas

Overview

This page tells you how to add a summary task for your students to complete at the end of an interactive video activity you created in ANVILL. Visit our help page on how to create an interactive video in ANVILL in Canvas if you need to learn to do that first. Likewise, visit our help page on how to add interactions to your interactive video in ANVILL if you are seeking help on either of those specific topics.

In addition or instead of a summary task, you can also choose to add a different interactive element as a summary activity at the end of your video. One such example is to add an Essay at the end of your video, and ask your students to write their own summary or reflection.

Adding a summary task

Here are the steps to end a closing and summary task to your video:

  1. Once you have added your video and added interactive elements to it (see links above if you need to learn how), click on the Step 3: Summary task tab in your interactive video edit screen if you want to create an optional summary task at the end of your video.

  2. Once the tab is open, type in a title for your summary task.
  3. Next, type in the Introduction text field any instructions or necessary background information for your summary task.
  4. Begin to type in your statements that will be included in your summary task. Note: as it is very important to the success of your task, that the first summary statement you list is the correct answer

  5. If you would like to include another type of Summary Task in addition to or instead of the Summary Task mentioned here and built in to ANVILL, please note you can add other interactive elements at the end of your video (an Essay for example), and create a different summary task for your students on your own.
  6. When you are done, click on the  icon by your video title in order to save your work and exit.
