EMU Computing Lab

 This lab will be closed for all in-person activities from November 26th through January 3rd. It will reopen on Monday, January 4th. 

Technical support will be available remotely through the Technology Service Desk during this time. If you are looking to print or use a computer workstation, please review the General Computer Lab Information page to find an open lab on campus. 

Overview

The EMU Computing Lab space is part of the Technology Service Desk. It is located in Room 042 on the Ground Floor of the EMU (between Campus Copy and KWVA). This page describes its use as a computer lab. If you need some of the other services TSD offers, please read this article.

Availability and Access

Hours

The lab opens for Fall Term on September 21st, 2020. You can make in-person appointments for technical support Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. For lab computer usage or printing, the lab is open from 7:30 a.m.–10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m. on Fridays, 8:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m. on Sundays.

In-person access to both the computer lab and tech support are currently available by appointment only to current UO students, faculty, and staff. Users must log in using their Duck ID in order to use the lab computers.

Making an appointment

Users can reserve the printer or a computer workstation at https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/EMUComputerLabRoom042@uoregon.edu/bookings/

Appointments are available for any time the EMU is open, with the exception of the first half-hour of each day, which is reserved for Tech Desk staff to sanitize the space.

Tech Support Appointments

Anyone seeking in-person tech support should first contact the Tech Desk remotely for an intake assessment. The number of available appointments will grow as we increase staffing for fall term.

Computers

  • Microsoft Windows 10: 10 workstations
  • Macintosh OS X: 6 workstations
  • Standing and sitting configurations available

Printing

Black and white (B&W) and color printing is available using Duck Bucks. More information about printing may be found here:

B&W Printing

  • 8 cents / page, 8.5x11 in. (letter size) and 8.5x14 in. (legal size)
  • 16 cents / page, 11x17 in (tabloid size)
  • Defaults to double-sided when available

Color Printing

  • 25 cents / side, 8.5x11 in (letter size)
  • 50 cents / side, 11x17 in (tabloid size)
  • Defaults to double-sided
  • Single or double-sided at 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution
