UO Blogs: Domain Mapping

Overview

UO Blogs has the ability to map to custom uoregon.edu domains. For example: blogs.uoregon.edu/<sitename> can be mapped to a custom hostname <sitename>.uoregon.edu.

If are you interested in having your UO Blogs site mapped to a uoregon.edu domain, please read through the guidelines, then submit a request through the Web Development & Hosting Support service page.

If your request meets the specified guidelines, the USS-Technology Service Desk (USS-TSD) will process your request and contact you when your site has been mapped.

Guidelines

Only departments, administrative units, and ASUO-recognized groups are eligible for domain mapping. Students, individual faculty or staff websites, and hostnames for blog use are not eligible for domain mapping. The requester must be the owner of the site and a permanent faculty or staff member. Site owners are responsible for managing their own content and complying with the Terms of Service for Academic Web Publishing and Collaboration Services

Please note that each site can have only one hostname it must exist prior to submitting your request. Additionally, hostnames must be lowercase, with no spaces, special characteristics, or symbols, limited to three to 15 characters or less, and descriptive of your department or administrative unit. If the hostname you are requesting is currently in use, the USS-TSD will work with you to find a hostname that is not in use and still meets the department/administrative unit’s needs.

For site IT support, please contact your local IT support group. If your department/administrative unit does not have local IT support, you may contact the USS-Technology Service Desk for general support.

Please be advised that the SSL certificate is updated once a month around the 15th. A mapped site without this certificate will show an SSL error when going to the page.
