Overview
UO Cybersecurity Intermediate Training is an online training that is available to all University of Oregon employees. This training course must be assigned to users before they can take the training.
This training is part of the UO's security awareness training program, an ongoing effort to educate the UO community about policies, procedures, and best practices relating to information security.
UO Cybersecurity Intermediate Training
Once this training has been assigned to a user, it may be accessed in the Proofpoint Security Awareness Training Platform.
The training includes three brief, interactive modules:
- UO Cybersecurity Intermediate Training Block I (23 minutes)
- FERPA For Higher Ed – 12 minutes
- Social Engineering – 11 minutes
- UO Cybersecurity Intermediate Training Block II (31 minutes)
- Global Privacy and Data Destruction – 25 minutes
- Securing Data: Know Your Role – 2 minutes
- 60 Seconds to Better Security: AI Chatbot Threats – 1 minute
- Generative AI Tools and Phishing Lures – 3 minutes
- UO Cybersecurity Intermediate Training Block III (19 minutes)
- Unintentional Insider Threat – 10 minutes
- Remote Working: Reducing the Risks – 2 minutes
- Working in the Cloud – 3 minutes
- Mobile Devices: Cybersecurity Fundamentals – 2 minutes
- Physical Security Fundamentals – 2 minutes
Eligibility
- This training is available to be assigned all UO employees — faculty, staff, graduate employees, and student employees.
- Some departments or units across the university may use this training to satisfy regulatory requirements. If this training is mandatory for your position, your supervisor or unit will inform you. Please ask your supervisor if you have any questions about what training is mandatory for your position at the university.

FERPA - The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
