What is Community Canvas? 

Community Canvas is another version of Canvas that was created for non-CRN related courses in response to rising needs for providing an online component to many of the programs and offerings at the University of Oregon. Community Canvas supports regular Canvas features as well as Panopto and Zoom integrations. 

How can I access Community Canvas?

Go to the Community Canvas site and login with your Duck ID.

What are the common use cases? 

There are various use cases, but here are some examples: 

  • Faculty/staff Canvas training 
  • Orientations 
  • Major sites 
  • Departmental collaborations 
  • Workshops 
  • Programmatic 
  • Events 

Who can request a new course in Community Canvas?

How can I request a new course in Community Canvas?

You need to submit a ticket from the Canvas Support Services page. When you create a request, select Non-CRN course, then Community Non-CRN course.

Note: Requests should be submitted at least two weeks ahead of the time you need the course.
