Managing Contacts and Speed Dial

Question

How do I manage my contacts and speed dial contacts using Microsoft Teams?

Solution

Select the Teams classic or Microsoft Teams (work or school) tab depending on your Teams version.

Managing External Contacts for Teams Calls

External contacts may be managed directly through Microsoft Teams. Anyone internal to the UO will already be searchable from the dial pad field and don't need to be added to your contacts. Like calendar events and meetings, contacts will sync between your UO email account and Teams.

To import your contacts via Outlook, you must have the Outlook application installed on your computer.

Note: For help importing your contacts without the Outlook application, please contact the IT staff who support your unit.

To add a contact via Microsoft Teams, navigate to Calls and select Contacts from the options at the top.

Contacts tab within the Calls screen (at the top)

Click Add contact and begin by entering the name of the contact. Teams will attempt to find that name in the directory. If the contact is external, you will receive a message that says We didn't find any matches.

Add to contacts with search field active.

Simply bypass this by clicking back into the dialog box and clicking Add.

Continue inputting contact details and click Add when complete.

Note: Contacts synced from your UOmail account must be managed from there. However, contacts added via Teams can be edited and/or deleted from Teams.

Block an Unwanted Call
