How do I ensure that my preferred first or last name is visible while using technology services provided by the University of Oregon?

How technology services display your name is based on information managed by UO Human Resources (UO HR), the payroll office within the Business Affairs Office (Payroll), the Office of the Registrar. Assistance and resources are dependent upon what you are allowed to change by yourself and your affiliation with the university.
What can you change by yourself?
You can set your Preferred First Name in DuckWeb. Your Preferred First Name will be displayed instead of your legal first name in many centralized technology services.

When will I see my new name appear in UO services?
If you set a new Preferred First Name, it will appear in many centralized technology services the following day.
If you requested a legal name change, your new name will appear in many centralized technology services the day after Registrar or Payroll office enters your new name into Banner.
Please note that Teams is a known exception. Microsoft designed Teams to cache some elements such as display name and telephone number for up to 28 days. Teams clients will be updated during that window after your name change has been entered.
