Mobile Wireless Device (MiFi) Rental Request

UO faculty and staff can rent mobile wireless hotspots (MiFi) for $9/day for Internet service within the continental United States. Each MiFi device provides connectivity for up to 15 devices. This service requires the user to supply a departmental index for payment.

How to Request a Device

To request support click Request Device (top right of the page) and please provide the following:

  • Department name
  • Pick up date
  • Drop off date
  • Billing index
  • Who will pick up the device

Availability and Access

  • Available to UO faculty and staff.
  • There are four MiFi units available for rent on a first come, first served basis.
  • Rental period is 2 days minimum to 14 days maximum.
  • The rental charge will be for the calendar days of the rental period (excluding day of pick up and return).
  • Only for use within the continental US.
  • Verizon throttles the data speed when usage hits 25GB. Data usage is reset to zero on the 4th of each month.
  • Pick up and drop off is at the Rainer building (1244 Walnut Street) 8am - 12pm; 1pm - 5pm, Monday through Friday. This is a secure building. Please use the phone at the main entrance to get access.
  • Please ensure all parts are returned and are in working order. You will be charged for missing and/or broken parts. The rental equipment includes the MiFi unit, USB cable, wall adapter and storage box.
