Creating a Microsoft Teams Meeting

Question

How do I create a Microsoft Teams meeting?

Solution

Note: If you don't see a "Calendar" tab in the Microsoft Teams application (browser, web, thick client, or mobile client), it means your email account is not yet using UOmail (Exchange Online). Instead, you can create a Microsoft Teams meeting by doing the following:

In Teams

Note: You must have the Teams client application for Windows, macOS, the web version, or mobile application (iOS or Android), and your email routed through Exchange/Outlook installed in order for these steps to work.

  1. Open Teams through desktop, mobile, or web, and select the Calendar menu option
  2. Select the New Meeting button in the upper-right corner
  3. Then add the following:
    1. Title
    2. Required attendees
    3. Date and time
    4. Channel (optional)
    5. Details (optional)
  4. Select Save to proceed
  5. Once the time comes for your meeting, select the meeting, then Join to join the meeting.

Windows

Note: You must have the Teams client for Windows, and Outlook 2013 or Outlook 2016, installed on your Windows machine before these steps will work. Please consult with your local IT group before attempting to install software on your device.

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Select the Calendar icon on the bar near the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select New Teams Meeting
  4. This will Teams-enable your meeting with a link to your Teams meeting.

Mac

Note: You must have the Teams client for Mac, Office 2019, Outlook for Mac version 16.23 and later, and an Exchange mailbox homed in Exchange Online before these steps will consistently work. Please consult with your local IT group before attempting to install software on your device.

  1. Open Outlook for Mac
  2. Select the Calendar link on the bar near the bottom of the screen
  3. Select Meeting from the bar near the top of the screen
  4. To Teams-enable your meeting, select the Teams Meeting button. A Teams meeting link will populate the meeting invite once you send it to recipient/s.
