Overview
This article is for use by faculty, staff, and students to give instructions on how to restore backed up favorites and passwords on a Microsoft Edge browser. Below are the steps to restore your Microsoft Edge browser favorites and passwords. This requires that you had previously backed up your favorites and passwords as files in a known and accessible location.

Steps to Restore Favorites
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the star with three lines in the top-right corner.
- Click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the menu to open the settings.
- Click Import Favorites.
- In the Import from other browsers section, click Choose what to import.
- Select Favorites or bookmarks HTML file.
- Click Choose file.
- Select the file with the backed up favorites to be restored.
- Click Open.
Steps to Restore Passwords
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the three dots in the top-right corner to open the settings.
- Click on Settings.
- Find and select Passwords.
- In the the saved passwords section, click the three dots on the right-hand side and select Import passwords.
- Choose where to import from and click Choose file when.
- Select the file with the saved passwords to be restored.
- Click Open.
