Getting Started with Zoom AI Companion

Overview

Coming soon!

Zoom AI Companion is a built‑in generative AI feature in Zoom that can summarize meetings, draft messages, and highlight key information across Zoom services. Learn about what it does, who can use it, and how to enable it.

It will be enabled at the UO in spring 2026 (details TBD).

Warning! At this time, only low-risk (green) data has been approved for entry into any AI tools at the UO.

What Is Zoom AI Companion?

Zoom AI Companion is Zoom’s AI-powered assistant that appears directly inside supported Zoom products. It helps users:

  • Understand what has been said
  • Summarize conversations, meetings, and calls
  • Draft and revise chat messages and emails
  • Identify action items and next steps
  • Quickly catch up on missed content

Zoom AI Companion is integrated into Zoom workflows and doesn't require installing a separate application.

Who Can Use Zoom AI Companion?

Most people at the UO will gain access to Zoom AI Companion when it's enabled.

Most Zoom AI Companion features are included in UO’s Zoom license at no additional cost, except for certain optional add‑on plug‑ins that require individual licenses.

If You Don't See Zoom AI Companion

After Zoom AI Companion is enabled, if you still don't see the feature, your account may be part of a restricted user group, such as:

  • Users of the Zoom HIPAA client.
  • Other groups excluded based on technical or compliance requirements.

If you have a question about your access, please submit a ticket at Zoom Support.
