OneDrive sync gets stuck

Issue

Microsoft OneDrive is stuck syncing files and displays either blank documents or does not display documents altogether. This is unique to the OneDrive desktop app and does not affect the OneDrive web app. User has a high concentration of shared files in their OneDrive folder that are the primary documents experiencing this issue.

Environment

Managed Windows laptop

Description

I am having issues with connecting the to OneDrive for CBSO files. I have reset my OneDrive and it is telling me that the "Reset is complete....OneDrive is as good as new" yet I have no access to the files in the folders and it is still processing over 264K in files and the message was created over 18 hours ago and the machine has been connected to UO the entire time. I have had this issue with syncing since COVID. In the past I have walked over to the Help Desk and they have reset things and rerouted things and it seems to be a temporary fix. I don't know if there is a profile for me that needs to be looked at for my issue or if this is a machine error as I am the only one in the office that appears to have this issue with the OneDrive access to my files. I am unable to provide better images and I hope that they help as the files that were previously accessible are no longer able to be opened at this time. I am unable to work on office needs until this issue is resolved and I considered this something that is "urgent" in nature to be back to assisting my team with year end processing.

Resolution

As a first step, you can try to Reset OneDrive.

It can also help to ensure that you are using valid OneDrive characters in your file and folder names.

Failing those steps, contact your regional support unit to attempt a wipe and re-install of the OS. This will often fix any merge conflicts.
