UO VPN error troubleshooting (macOS)

Issue

When logging into the UO VPN on macOS, an error message comes up that reads The VPN client agent's DNS component experienced an unexpected error. The VPN connection has been disconnected. Please restart your computer or device, then try again.

Environment

On a macOS device with the Cisco AnyConnect application installed.

Description

(from a customer's ticket request)

UO VPN will connect and then automatically log me out. Says to restart computer and try again, but I have done that twice with no luck.

Resolution

This issue is caused by an out-of-date version of the Cisco VPN client on your computer. This can be resolved by uninstalling the old version of the VPN client and installing the newest version.

To uninstall the Cisco AnyConnect Client

  1. In the Finder, open your Applications folder.
  2. Navigate to and open the Cisco folder, then run the Uninstall Cisco tool.
    1. Note: You may be prompted to enter administrator credentials to uninstall the application.

To reinstall the Cisco AnyConnect Client
