Installing McAfee Endpoint Security for Windows (for managed devices)

Question

How do I install McAfee Endpoint Security antivirus software on a managed Windows computer?

Solution

A managed device is typically owned by the university and used by faculty, staff, or in student labs. These devices are centrally managed by campus administrators. If your device, does not fall into this category, please use the unmanaged installation method outlined in the How to install McAfee Endpoint Security for Windows (for unmanaged devices) article.

If you are upgrading from McAfee VirusScan Enterprise, Endpoint Security will remove VirusScan Enterprise before installing. This means Endpoint Security can be installed over the top of VirusScan Enterprise as it will be removed in the process.

Note: If you weren't using VirusScan Enterprise before, be sure that you do not have any other active antivirus program running on your computer before installing McAfee Endpoint Security. Running any two virus protection programs will result in the two of them fighting over resources, making the computer slower and potentially making the computer crash while running typical applications.
