Installing the Dropbox Application

Overview

Below are instructions for downloading Dropbox to a personal computer or UO-owned computer which is not managed by your IT department.

Please Note: If your computer is managed by your IT department, or you do not have administrator rights, please contact your local IT department to have Dropbox installed. Alternatively you can use the web interface via Dropbox.com.

Installing Dropbox Application on Computer

Note: Be sure to review the Dropbox System Requirements before proceeding to confirm your device can support the Dropbox Application.
  1. Download the Dropbox application for your computer by going to https://www.dropbox.com/download/
  2. Run the installer on your computer (this will require administrator permissions for your account)
  3. Walk through the installation steps

Installing Dropbox App on iOS (iPhone/iPad)

Note: Be sure to review the Dropbox System Requirements for iOS before proceeding to confirm your device can support the Dropbox Application.
  1. Open the App Store on your device and search for Dropbox. The application should be called Dropbox - Backup, Sync, Share.
  2. Click GET
  3. Enter your app store login information if prompted. 
  4. Let the app install, then open and login via instructions here: Getting Started with Dropbox

Installing Dropbox App on Android

Note: Be sure to review the Dropbox System Requirements for Android before proceeding to confirm your device can support the Dropbox Application.
  1. Open the Play Store
  2. Search for Dropbox
  3. Select the app named Dropbox: Cloud Storage to Backup, Sync, File Share
  4. Click Install. Let the app download and install
  5. When the Open button is no longer greyed out, the application is ready for use
  6. Let the app install, then open and login via instructions here: Getting Started with Dropbox
