How to backup Mozilla Firefox bookmarks

Overview

Below are the steps for backing up Mozilla Firefox bookmarks. This should be done when your computer is being wiped, re-imaged, or transferred to another location, or if instructed by University of Oregon IT staff.

Steps for backing up bookmarks

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Open the menu ≡ (menu icon). 
  3. Click Bookmarks.
  4. Click Manage Bookmarks.
  5. Click the Import and backup your bookmarks button ↓↑ ∨ from the toolbar.
  6. Click Backup.
  7. Choose a location to save the file.
    • It is recommended that you save the file to your personal drive or a USB in an easy-to-find location.
