How to Configure a Static IP Address (iOS)

How can I get a static IP address on iOS devices?

Solution

When using static IP addresses on home and other private networks, they should be chosen from within the standard private IP address ranges listed:

  • 10.0.0.0 through 10.255.255.255
  • 172.16.0.0 through 172.31.255.255
  • 192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.255

To set a static IP address, do the following:

  1. Tap on the Settings icon.
  2. Go to Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap on the blue information icon (i) next to the name of the Wi-Fi network
    • This may be a blue error if you are using something older than iOS 7.
  4. Go to the Static tab, pictured below.

  5. Tap on the IP Address field.
  6. Enter the static IP address that you want to use on your iPhone/iPad.
  7. Tap on the Router field.
  8. Enter the routers IP address.
  9. Tap on Subnet Mask and enter your information
    • Usually, it will be 225.225.0.0.
  10. Tap on the Wi-Fi button, in the upper left corner of the screen, to save settings.
