Static IP Address on iOS

Question

How can I get a static IP address on iOS devices?

Solution

When using static IP addresses on home and other private networks, they should be chosen from within the standard private IP address ranges listed:

  • 10.0.0.0 through 10.255.255.255
  • 172.16.0.0 through 172.31.255.255
  • 192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.255

To set a static IP address, do the following:

  1. Tap on the settings icon in your iPhone/iPad's screen.
  2. Go to the Wi-Fi section.
  3. Tap on the blue "i" next to the name of the Wi-Fi network (this may be a blue error if you are using something older than iOS7).
  4. Go to the Static tab (the picture below is an example; use your own network info).
  5. Tap on the IP Address field and enter the static IP address that you want to use on your iPhone/iPad.
  6. Tap on the Router field and enter the routers IP address.
  7. Tap on Subnet Mask and enter your information (usually 225.225.0.0).
  8. Tap on the Wi-Fi button in the upper left corner of the screen to save settings.
