Finding Your Current Version of McAfee in Windows

Windows 10

To determine which version of McAfee you are running, we need to navigate to the Apps and Features section of the Settings in Windows.

1. Open the Start Menu
2. Select Setttings from the list of applications
3. Select Apps
4. You will see a list of all the apps installed on your computer. Find McAfee on the list.
   • You may have multiple McAfee programs listed. Look for "McAfee VirusScan" or "McAfee Endpoint Security".
5. Select the entry in the list.
6. A version number will be displayed below the name.

If you have a managed McAfee installation, then you can find your Agent version number by looking for McAfee Agent instead. Again, select it and look below the name to see the installed version number.

Windows 7

To determine which version of McAfee you are running, we need to navigate to the Programs and Features section of the Control Panel in Windows.

1. Open the Start Menu
2. Select the Control Panel
   • Depending on your system, you might be directed to All Control Panel Items or just Control Panel
     • If you are in All Control Panel Items, select Programs and Features
     • If you are in Control Panel, find the green text that says Programs and select the option below it that says Uninstall a Program
3. You will see a list of all of the programs installed on your computer. Find McAfee on the list.
   • You may have multiple programs listed. One is McAfee VirusScan or McAfee Endpoint Security. This is the correct program.
4. Look to the right for the column listing the Version number. That is the version of McAfee you are running.

Also, if you have a managed McAfee installation, then you can find your Agent version number by replacing step 3 with McAfee Agent. Again, look to the right to see the provided Version number.
