Overview
Learn about Dropbox team storage billing. Team folders are available only to UO faculty and staff and will be created upon request.
Dropbox individual storage is capped at 2 TB. Users can get additional space through a team folder. Billing for team folders is incurred after they exceed 2 TB. The cost is $40 per TB per year, billed to an index.
How Dropbox team folder billing works
- Only team folders above 2 TB will be billed each year.
- Billing occurs annually, in advance. You’ll be charged at the start of the fiscal year (around July 1) for that fiscal year.
- Additional storage capacity is billed in 1 TB increments.
- Once a team folder exceeds its allotment, the fee for additional space is automatically charged and prorated for the rest of that fiscal year.
- If your team folder is above 2 TB when we start billing in July 2026, you’ll be billed for all additional TB.
Examples
- The UO underwater hockey group provides an index and receives a Dropbox team folder. They stay under 2 TB of usage for the entire annual cycle (July 1–June 30). The group isn't charged a fee for that fiscal year.
- The next year, the UO underwater hockey group stays under 2 TB storage for half the year, but then jumps to 3.75 TB of storage for the duration of the annual cycle. Their index is charged for 2 TB of extra storage for the six months they were above their 2 TB base allotment: $40/TB/year x 2 TB x 0.5 year = $40 for the fiscal year.
