Overview

1Password can be accessed in a variety of ways. We recommend setting up at least two trusted devices to help if you ever get locked out. This could be a browser extension on your laptop and the mobile app on your cell phone, or a browser extension on one machine and the desktop app on another.   

Warning! If you lose access to one trusted device, you may need another one to recover your account. 

Most used methods

Browser Extension

  • The easiest way to save, fill, and manage passwords in your browser. 
  • Supported on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, and Brave. 

Download 1Password for your browser 

Mobile App

  • Save, fill, and change passwords on your phone. 
  • Available for iOS and Android with support for bio-metric unlock (Face ID, Touch ID, biometric unlock, etc). 

Other methods

Desktop App

  • Most useful for complex password management, IT professionals, or as a backup trusted device. 
  • Provides a robust interface for managing passwords. 
  • Supported operating systems: Windows, macOS, and Linux. 
  • Employees with managed machines can install the desktop app from Software Center for Mac or Software Center for Windows  
  • If you can’t access the software center, you can also directly download the desktop app.

  • Helpful for more advanced editing or account settings 
  • Access on-the-go from any device
