Overview

This article is for use by faculty, staff, and students as instructions on how to back up favorites and passwords on a Microsoft Edge browser. This should be done when your computer is being wiped, re-imaged or transferred to another location or if instructed to by IT staff.

Steps to Export Favorites

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. Click the star with three lines in the top right corner.
  3. Click the More Options button (three dots) in the upper right corner.
  4. Click Export Favorites.
  5. Select a location where you would like to save your backup file.
    • It is recommended that you save the file to your personal drive or a USB stick in an easy to find location.
  6. Save the file.

Steps to Export Passwords

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. Click on the Settings and More button that looks like three dots at the top right.
  3. Click on Settings.
  4. Select the Profiles page.
  5. Select Passwords.
  6. Select the more actions button (three dots).
  7. Select Export passwords.
  8. Type in your Windows password.
  9. Select the location where you would like to save your backup file.
    • It is recommended that you save the file to your personal drive or a USB stick in an easy to find location.
  10. Save the file.
