Question

How do I connect to UO Secure on my Windows devices?

Solution

Configuring your device for UO Secure

Tip: You can connect to the UO Guest wireless network if you are on campus to get UO Secure set up. But can set up your devices from anywhere — even before you come to campus!
  1. Visit wifi.uoregon.edu and select Get connected
  2. Select JoinNow
  3. Your computer will download the WiFi_University_of_Oregon_Wrapper application installer.
  4. Run the installer (which can be found in your downloads folder). This will install the SecureW2 application.
  5. The SecureW2 application will open with a dialog box message stating: We are now launching a separate dialog to continue sign-in at your account provider website. When you have successfully signed-in, the application will continue. Select Next to proceed.
  6. A new browser window will open showing the Entra ID login screen. Use your full UO email address and password to sign-in. You may also be prompted for your two-step login as well.
  7. Return to the SecureW2 application. Your browser window may minimize for you. Wait while the program configures.
  8. You may see up to four security warnings regarding installing the certificates. Select Yes for all of them.
    1. Note: Some of these warnings may hide behind the SecureW2 application window. You may have to move that window to view them.
  9. When completed, you will see Joined... in the SecureW2 window, and can select Done.
  10. The program will automatically connect you to UO Secure. If it doesn't, select the Wi-Fi icon on your top bar once more, and try reconnecting to UO Secure.
Getting an error about "network not in range" when you finish this process?
  • Off campus: This is normal, and your device should connect automatically when you come to campus. (The error message may also say your password may be incorrect—which may be true if you get to campus and your device doesn't connect automatically; see below.)
  • On campusYour password is likely incorrect. You may need to start the process over again, or visit the Technology Service Desk for help.
