Question
How do I connect to UO Secure on my macOS devices?
Solution
Note: You will need to have a network connection of some kind (cellular service, mobile hotspot,
UO Guest, wired/Ethernet connection, etc.) to follow this process.
Please Note: This process will also install the certificates for the
eduroam network.
- Open your default web browser.
- Safari is recommended to be your default browser for this configuration. Chrome or Firefox will work in most cases if set as your default web browser. Edge does not work properly.
- Go to UO Wi-Fi and select Get Connected.
- Select JoinNow
- Your computer will download the WiFi_JoinNow_Wrapper installer file.
- Open that file.
- Double-click to open the WiFi_JoinNow_Wrapper application icon to open the SecureW2 application.
- The SecureW2 application will open with a dialog box message stating: We are now launching a separate dialog to continue sign-in at your account provider website. When you have successfully signed-in, the application will continue. Select Next to proceed.
- A new browser window will open showing the Entra ID login screen. Use your full UO email address and password to sign-in. You may also be prompted for your two-step login as well.
- Upon authentication, you will need to enter your computer's login password for SecureW2 JoinNow to make changes.
- You will be redirected to the SecureW2 application. A message will appear stating:
- You will now be prompted by the System to install the profile in the System Preferences. Click here for a short tutorial on what needs to happen or click Next to proceed. Please note: Your device will seek additional permissions a few times to configure your network, please provide your system password when prompted.
- Your system will prompt you stating that a new profile has been downloaded.
- A dialog box will appear. The Settings app will appear with University of Oregon UO Secure certificate highlighted. Double-click on it to proceed.
- A dialog box titled Are you sure you want to install this profile? will appear. Select Install... to proceed.
- Another dialog box will appear to verify your decision. Select Install to proceed.
- The profile will be installed once you enter your computer's login password.
- You will be redirected to the SecureW2 application. Select Next.
- A dialog box will appear. The Settings app will appear with University of Oregon eduroam highlighted. Double-click on it to review it before installing. Repeat steps 13-16.
- You will be redirected to the SecureW2 app.
- If you are not on campus or out of network range, you will see the following message: Configuration succeeded. Network may not be in range or Password may be incorrect. Click continue or retry.
- Select Continue.
- Select Done. The application will close.
- You will be configured to the network once you're on campus or within network range.
- You can now select UO Secure or eduroam.
Getting an error about "network not in range" when you finish this process?
- Off campus: This is normal, and your device should connect automatically when you come to campus. (The error message may also say your password may be incorrect—which may be true if you get to campus and your device doesn't connect automatically; see below.)
- On campus: Your password is likely incorrect. You may need to start the process over again, or visit the Technology Service Desk for help.
