Types of Alternate Contact/Recovery Information

Add/Update Security Questions

Knowing the answers to your security questions is critical in the event you forget your password or your account is acted on due to a security concern. You may be asked for a subset of answers to your security questions by IT support staff to verify your identity when contacting us for help with your password or Duo devices.  Answers to security questions are not case-sensitive.

Adding initial security questions

The first time you log in to Duck ID Account Management, you will be prompted to complete security questions. You will complete four questions from a standard set and two user-defined questions. You can add additional questions, but it is not required.

  • Follow the prompts to complete the questions.
  • When finished, click Update.
  • You can now log out.

To update your security questions

  1. Go to Duck ID Account Management.
  2. Select Manage Your Duck ID.
  3. Log in with your username, password, and complete verification.
  4. Under My Profile select Update security questions.
  5. Select new questions and/or answers.
    • Your previous answers are obscured by four dots - this does not indicate the length of your previous answer.
    • Although you have the option to add more than four standard questions and two user-defined questions - that is not required. You may see a blank space for extra questions.
    • Tip: If you want to test that you know your answers, scroll down to the bottom and click Try to answer security questions
  6. When finished, click Update.
  7. You can now log out.

Add/Update Recovery Email

When a recovery email is automatically available

  • When a person applies to the university either as a student or employee, the email address they provide will automatically be made available as their recovery email. This same recovery email will be used when claiming a Duck ID account.
  • If you previously had an alternate email in our retired Duck ID system, that email has been brought over as your recovery email.

You have a Duck ID

  • Go to DuckWeb Information System.
  • Login with your 95# and PAC.
  • Go to Personal Information.
  • Click Personal Information Application.
  • Log in with your Duck ID, password, and Duo.
  • You will see a section called Email.
    • If you see an entry called Recovery email, you can click the pencil icon to edit it.
    • If you don't, click the Add New link, under Email Type choose Recovery Email, enter your email, and click Add.
    • When complete, you can Sign Out.

You don't yet have a Duck ID

When you claim your Duck ID, you will be required to use the email on file to verify your identity. If you are unable to access the email or receive an error when claiming, you'll need to update your email.

New employees: To add or update the recovery email on file, contact your hiring department and ask them to update your email in Banner. Your updated email will be available to use the following day.

New students: Please contact the Technology Service Desk for assistance.
