PaperCut-Managed Printer Not Printing or Printing Code When Printing

Issue

There could be a time when a user sends a print job, and upon releasing it, pages of code are printed instead of the requested document. When reviewing the logs in the PaperCut Web Admin Console, the title of the document is an alphanumeric string (e.g., s934klskKLDK8390ls.DOC). This is mostly occurring for users who are using their own Mac laptop.

Cause

Pages of code being printed out instead of the requested document is usually caused by an unrecognized font or formatting in the document that is being printed.  

Resolution

Resolution 1:

1. Print document as a PDF file and save the document.
2. Print the document.

Resolution 2: (if on an personal Apple device)

1. Visit any computer lab.
2. Login to any UO-managed lab computer with your Duck ID username.
3. Open up the document.
4. Print the document.
