Question
How can I see past versions of a file on a SharePoint site?
Solution
Go to a SharePoint site
- Select Documents from the navigation menu
- Navigate to the file you wish
- Hover over the file name and select the three-dot icon that appears.
- Select Version history
- A dialog box will appear. Once the results have loaded the last 500 versions of a file will appear in chronological order by the most recent change.

To view a version
- Select a time stamp link, indicated by the date and time of the edit, to open that version.

- You will be prompted to download that version of the file to your machine to view in the corresponding desktop application or web browser.
