Jabber Instant Messaging

Service Description

Jabber is the service that UO uses to provide instant messaging. It supports person-to-person and group-based chats, as well as file transfers.  Users may know this service as chat, IM, jabber, spark, or other names of their chat clients.

Click on the Request Help button for assistance with Jabber, creating a new group, updating existing group permissions, etc.

Contact your local IT staff before requesting Jabber access, as your unit may already have established user groups for Jabber.

For access, click on the Request Help button. 

Accessing the Service

Your jabber account is your Duck ID plus @jabber.uoregon.edu (e.g. jersmith@jabber.uoregon.edu)

A jabber/xmpp compatible Instant Messaging client is required to connect to the Jabber service.
