Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2013 for Windows


How do I setup Outlook 2013 to get my email on Windows?



  • If you are using Outlook in conjunction with Microsoft Exchange, as is the case with many faculty and staff, please contact your local IT support for configuration directions.
  • If you are using a Mac computer and running macOS please see Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac.

When using Outlook 2013 for the first time follow the directions below:

  1. On the first screen that appears click Next
  2. Select Yes to set up Outlook to connect to an email account and click Next
  3. Select E-Mail Account then fill in your NameEmail, and Password and click Next
  4. A Windows Security window will pop up. Enter your Password, check the box to remember your credentials, and click OK
  5. Select 'Don't ask me about this website again' and click Allow
  6. Once the configuration completes click Finish

After testing the connection Outlook should default to your inbox and all online folder should be accessible.

If you have already set up an account in Outlook, follow these steps to setup an additional account:

  1. Open Outlook
  2. From the File menu, select Account and Social Network Settings then Account Settings
  3. In the window that pops up select New...
  4. Follow the relevant steps above to setup another email account



How do I setup my Exchange e-mail with Outlook 2013?


1. Open Mail Setup

  • Close Outlook 2013 if it's open. Double-click the Mail icon in the Control Panel to open the Mail Setup window.
  • Click E-mail Accounts.

2. Add a New Account

  • Click New. on the E-mail tab.

3. Manually Configure Server Settings

  • Select Manual setup or additional server types.
  • Click Next.

4. Choose E-mail Service

  • Select Microsoft Exchange.
  • Click Next.

5. Enter Information in the Settings Window

  • Enter in the Microsoft Exchange server field.
  • Enter your AD username (duckid) in the User Name field.
  • Click Check Name to make sure these fields are correct.

6. Re-Enter AD Username If Prompted

  • If the window shown below appears, enter ad, a backslash, and your username in the User name field.
  • Enter your AD password (e-mail password) in the Password field.
  • Click OK.
