Overview
Learn how to install the virtual printer driver for the DuckDocs (OnBase) Unity client. The Virtual Print Driver is installed automatically if installing the Unity Client via Software Center. If you have installed the Unity client via software.uoregon.edu and would like to install the Virtual Print Driver, you may do so by following the steps below.
Installation
- Navigate to the following URL: https://software.uoregon.edu/software-center. (You may be prompted to login with your DuckID)
- Next to the OnBase Unity Client, click the button labeled 23.1.9.1000.
- Click the link for the OnBase 23.1 Virtual Print Driver Installer.
- Locate the downloaded file on your computer, right-click and choose Extract All…
- Navigate to the extracted folder.
- Right-click on both the setup.exe and Hyland Virtual Print Driver (x64), click Properties. If the option is available, check Unblock.
- Double-click setup to begin the installation. A Welcome screen should appear. Click Next.
- Note: You may be prompted to install prerequisites. To proceed click Install.
- The following details explain how to navigate the steps in the installer:
- On the Installation Options screen, accept the default Spool Directory (“C:\OnBase Printer Spool\” and select the Auto-Detect option under the Environment setting.
- Click Next, and then Install
- Once the installation is complete, click Finish.
When using the Virtual Print Driver, it will be necessary to have the Unity Client open and logged in. If the Virtual Print Driver is correctly installed, the Hyland Software Virtual Printer should be available to select from the print menu in other applications. The Virtual Print Driver works successfully if, after choosing Print, the document opens in the Unity Client. (It may take a moment for the document to open in the Unity client.)
Printing to TIF and Importing into OnBase
- Open the Unity Client and sign in.
- When you print a file, you should see Hyland Software Virtual Print Driver as a printer option.
- After clicking Print, a TIF version of the document you print will appear in C:/OnBase Printer Spool folder
and, if you are logged in to the Unity Client, the document will then appear in a new window allowing
you to import the document into OnBase.
- Choose an appropriate Document Type and click Import.
