Shibboleth login issues after recently changing your Duck ID password.

Environment

Description

Hello, I've been having off and on issues with signing in through the Shibboleth single sign on.

Over the past several weeks I often haven't been able to log into a variety of devices/services like my work computer, log into Adobe Creative Suite applications and UKG for timesheet punches. These issues seem to be random and I've made sure that I'm typing my ID and password in correctly each time. I've tried using different browsers as well to see if that would help my ability to sign in through Shibboleth. I had previously reset my password in hopes of solving this issue but it has persisted.

This morning, I couldn't log into UKG through Shibboleth until I was finally able to get through the sign in while trying to log into Qualtrics, then, authentication seemed to work for UKG.

Is there any way to fix this issue? Should I try resetting my password again? It seems very random as to when and with what application/service it happens with.

Resolution

To solve persistent account lockouts, the most common steps are as follows. Lockouts can happen shortly after changing your Duck ID password due to applications repeatedly submitting the now obsolete or incorrect cached credentials:

  1. Go to your Wi-Fi settings and select the option to forget the UO Secure or Eduroam networks on all of your devices (phones, computers, etc.) and log back into them with current Duck ID credentials.
  2. Go to your mail apps (Outlook, Mail, etc.) and remove and re-add mail accounts with current Duck ID credentials.
