Question
How do I use the dial pad in Teams calling? How do I make multiparty calls?
Information
Using the Teams dial pad: Initiating a call and During a call
The dial pad located from the Calls icon in Teams is used when initiating an outbound call.
Acceptable entries include:
- First and last name for anyone internal to the university.
- If you do not know the correct spelling for someone, you may dial the UO Speech Directory at 541-346-1000 to speak the name of the person you would like to reach.
- Ten-digit phone number. A prefix is never required.
- Phone numbers can be entered by keyboard, mouse-clicks on the numbers of the dial pad, or numbers copied and pasted to the entry field.
- Websites that are enabled with click-to-dial will initiate a call via Microsoft Teams.
A dial pad will also be available from an active call. This dial pad will be used to respond to automated systems that require key inputs.
If the active call includes an external caller, the dial pad icon will be located from the control bar. If the active call is Teams-to-Teams, the dial pad will be located from the three-dot more options menu.
Note: A dial pad will not be available in a multiparty call
Initiate a Multiparty Call
Click the participants icon to add another caller to an active call to initiate a multiparty call.
- Type the name or ten-digit phone number in the field where it reads Invite someone or dial a number.
- This will ring that caller and add them automatically to the active call when they answer the call.
Note: Calls are escalated to a meeting when another party is added to an active call. A dial pad will not be available during a multiparty call.
