Office 365 Delve FAQ

Delve is a cloud-based service offered in the Office 365 suite.  Delve helps users discover information across integrated Microsoft products by pulling user content from Microsoft Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint and Yammer.

Because Delve discovers and promotes files, it is important that Office 365 users pay close to attention to their file sharing permissions and only share files with users they intend to.

Note: Delve will be deactivated on March 9th, 2022.

Are my documents safe in Delve?

Yes, your documents are safe. Delve does not change file permissions.  Delve only discovers and promotes files to users who have been granted access.

Who can see my documents?

Users can only see documents that have been shared with them.  You can see who has access to a specific file from within Delve by doing the following:

  1. In Delve, click the three dots in the lower right corner of the document listing
  2. Click Who can see this?

Who can see attachments?

Only people in the email conversation, who already have access to the file, will see associated attachments in Delve.

How can I keep a file private?

You can keep a file private by not sharing it.
